Attention: Mr. Ed Headrick, President

Dear Ed,
Thanks for your letter. We appreciate the interest you have in our Disc Golf here in Palo. We have had a most pleasant and painless experience as we have debated whether to purchase a nine hole course, the support and enthusiasm of your district representative, Mark Meyer was pivotal in our decision.

Mark has been a wonderful ambassador for Disc Golf in Palo. As he designed the course, he took into account the lay of the land, and used the limited space we had to create what I think is a unique Disc Golf experience.

Palo has only about 800 residents. The course was finished and ready to play approximately August 1, 1995. City Park that was overgrown and deserted. This area has now become one of the best maintained and utilized park areas in the city.

I have struggled, though, in trying to get the population interested in Disc Golf. Again, Mark has been quite helpful and supportive. We plan to hold more clinics in the spring and summer of "96, (because you have to learn from the pros how to fling a disc 200 feet), and we intend to also conduct some Disc Golf tournaments, flighted for various skill levels.

Those who have played, (my family really enjoys it), have all had great things to say about the course. I have talked to many professional Disc Golfers who admit that they find the course challenging, even for them. I look forward to playing a round with you and Mark the next time youâre in the Cedar Rapids area. I have attached a rough course layout for your review.

Again, thanks for your after the sale interest in our Disc Golf course.

Ms. Holly Miller, Superintendent
Seattle Parks and Recreation Department
210 Municipal Building
Seattle, WA 98104

Dear Ms. Miller,

I was requested by Mr. Ralph Williamson to relay to you our experiences of having recently installed a disc golf course in one of our parks. Mr. Williamson played our course at the World Disc Golf Championship.

We were approached several years ago about installing a course by a small group of people claiming how much it would be used etc. Since the equipment costs for such an apparent small group didnât seem justified we told them to come to us with an organized group and we would consider installing the course. The proposal died.

Recently an organized group did approach us about installing a course. Jointly we worked together, physically and financially, and installed the 18-hole course around the perimeter of one of our parks. The park is 90 acres and the course winds around about 60 acres of it.

I must admit I am amazed at the steady play the course receives. In the afternoon and evenings a steady stream of adults are on the course. We ran the course through some areas that are less visible and now I have those areas being used for a good purpose. The local youth use the course and we have started renting and selling Frisbees in our recreation center.

My experience has shown the courses to be a benefit and brings responsible people into the park. If you have any questions please call me.

Dear Ed:

This is a letter of appreciation for your assistance in helping us install our 18-hole Mach III disc golf course last year. At first I was a bit skeptical about whether the general public would responds to disc golf, but my doubts have been dismissed. We are experiencing a significant amount of play and our disc sales are increasing each week. This year we are planning to install concrete tee pads as the grass tee boxes have been totally worn out. Each week we receive a number of complements about the course, and it has been one of the most cost effective investments that our Department has undertaken.

Also, please thank Joe Weinshel, and the other professionals, for sharing their experience in laying out the course. It is well designed and offers a challenge for all abilities.

Dear Ed:

Thanks for inquiring about our new Disc Golf Course at Bear Creek Park. Since the first baskets went up, we have had play at the course. We are averaging over 500 rounds a week, but I am sure that number has dropped off during this summer heat.

David Draz, did an excellent job at anticipating the needs and wants of disc golf players, having played many years himself. We have received numerous compliments for the placement of the benches, trash receptacles, basket layout, and setting of the course. The concrete tee boxes have reduced the maintenance on our Parks staff and the overall pride of the course has kept litter down to a minimum.

David has coordinated several tournaments for the avid golfer and for the youth of our community. These tournaments have had a very positive effect on our community, allowing for one more activity for our youth.

During the installation of the course, David spent many hours with my staff making sure that the baskets were aimed properly and that associates immediately formed the Bear Creek Disc Golf Club and regularly meet here in Grapevine for impromptu tournaments. They even participated in the Worlds Largest Disc Golf Tournament this year.

The city is already planning to expand this course to a 18 hole recreational course as soon as we can acquire the adjacent land by purchase or lease. We will keep your organization informed.

Thank you and your staff for getting all the equipment we needed on time. We think we have made a good investment in some quality equipment for a better quality of life in our community.

Thank you for your offer to purchase recreational Disc Golf Discs. I will pass this information along to David Draz since he is the one coordination all Disc sales associated with this new course.

Thank you again for your quality product and excellent customer service.
